Things to know about our Hay Racks

At Buttercup Pet Products we endeavor to create products that are planet-friendly, but at the same time design them to be the best they can be for small pets such as Rabbits and Guinea Pigs.

Our Hay Racks are a perfect example of planet-in-mind design creating super easy-to-use and convenient small pet products. 

The main issue we found with Hay Racks in general is how basic and poorly thought out most of them are. A lot of racks use metal wire which is really bad for small pets teeth, but then other designs use materials such as plastic, which when chewed can be ingested. Both of these options are not small pet safe and it gave us a reason to develop a Hay Rack to solve these problems!

Eco-Friendly Design
As mentioned in previous blogs, which you can find below, 3D printing with PLA plastic is very eco-friendly. PLA is also a great material for this type of product as it is considered food-safe. We also chose to use pine dowels for the rungs of our Hay Racks as it is a renewable material and also looks great!

Pet Friendly
We designed our Hay Rack to be as easy to use for both small pets and their owners. The open top design allows for easy hay refills whilst the pine dowel rungs are safe on your furry friend's teeth. The gaps between the rungs have been designed to be big enough to let hay out of the Hay Rack but are small enough to prevent your small pet's head getting stuck. The base of the Hay Rack also has pine dowel rungs but they are spaced closer together to prevent hay from falling out of the bottom.

Another big reason to upgrade to one of our Hay Racks is that they match our water bottle holders in design and also colour. This means you can have the perfect Rack and Holder combo in your small pets set up!
