How Buttercup Designs Products Around Everyday Pet-Care Problems
Buttercup Pet Products began with a very practical rabbit problem. Button and Teacup had a habit of moving their drinking bottles, which left us looking for a more secure way to position a bottle in their setup.
Starting with the problem
Rather than adapting another off-the-shelf accessory, we designed a holder around the bottle and enclosure. Early concepts were created in CAD, 3D printed and adjusted through repeated prototypes.
Why 3D printing works for us
3D printing lets us change a design without committing to expensive tooling. That means we can refine fit, mounting and dimensions as our products develop, then manufacture in small batches in Sheffield.
The water bottle holder
The original wall-mounted holder eventually developed into today’s no-wire guinea pig and rabbit water bottle holder range, with mounting and size options for different compatible setups.
From one rabbit problem to a wider range
The same approach now runs through our hay racks, camera mounts and other 3D-printed accessories: start with an everyday enclosure problem, design a simple solution, prototype it and keep improving it.
